YMCA Suffolk has three crash pads available for use. It has two crash pads at the Ipswich site and one crash pad at the Bury site. Crash pads provide emergency accommodation for 1-10 nights on a night by night basis. They are for 16-24 year olds. A crash pad is a single room with shared facilities.
The young people using this emergency accommodation will have rules to follow, they will be given an evening meal and breakfast and will receive support to help them secure safe long term accommodation.
Referrals for the crash pad are made through the Suffolk Coordination Service database. In an emergency we can also accept direct referrals.
As well as three crash pads, YMCA Suffolk offers a community based response to the reality of youth homelessness in Suffolk through Nightstop. This is not just for those sleeping rough or actually roofless but also for the large number of otherwise unrecognized sofa surfers. We provide safe emergency accommodation in a family home for one to ten nights on a night by night basis, buying local agencies valuable time. The young people using this emergency accommodation will receive support to help them secure safe long term accommodation.
Referrals for Nightstop are made through the Suffolk Coordination Service database, in an emergency we also accept direct referrals.
